T.G. Dragunity

Well, thus far,

It has been an extended period of time since I last contributed to my very own blog. Mainly, this is due to my lazy attitude and my busy life, kind of, maybe. Back on topic, concerning dragons, I have drifted away from the traditional dragon decks such as Disaster Dragon, Sol and Hopeless stuff, and centralised myself around Dragunity. The primary reasoning for this shift is concerned around consistency and speed which need to be ensured to help maintain a fair battle against the Meta.
Dragunity are both powerful and fragile. They are able to bring out a level 5, 6, and 8 Synchro in one turn or alternatively blast 2 cards to the grave with access to an opponent’s face-up monster with the flick of the tail. Moreover, the problem is one Mystical Space Typhoon can mean the end of the game, or even another field spell such as Necrovalley. In fact there are a vast majority of cards which can potentially destroy the foundations of the deck; Dragon Ravine, and send the functionality of the deck as a whole into a downward spiralling hurricane. Furthermore, most by now, would have noticed the impact of going first in comparison to going second, allowing someone to access Shi En first turn simply means those precious spells and traps you hold in your hand just became redundant. Which, let’s be honest, destroys opening hands for some decks, Dragunity being a primary exemplar. So motions move onwards, smart plays become vital to the overall performance of your deck at hand. It is pretty simple.
If I could keep it all according to plan, if only. I lack hope. However, I will strive forever for something, something secret, something distant and unattainable. I am aware that I am not the best player suited to be discussing Dragunity; I simply want to be heard, somehow. I have recently taken to the skies with T.G. Werewolf and T.G. Striker, and they are yet to leave my side as I take Dragunities to a new level, I must say I am very grateful to the player that lead me to such a great idea. I cannot express how graceful I am for his assistance, even if it was only a small gesture of knowledge. The concept was at first of no importance to me, but that quickly changed once I completed my own T.G. Dragunity build. It has infected me and consumed me whole, taking away all my other aspiring builds.
So far I have only really been able to test the true capacity of the deck on Dueling Network, although I am preparing the build in real life. A greater than 2:1 win ratio is pretty awesome although the functionality of side decking has not yet been taken into consideration due to Dueling Networks limitations at this point in time.

Here is my build:

Monsters: 18

1 - Blackwing - Zepyros the Elite
2 - Dragunity Aklys
3 - Dragunity Dux
2 - Dragunity Legionnaire
3 - Dragunity Phalanx
2 - Effect Veiler
2 - T.G. Striker
3 - T.G. Werewolf

Spells: 16

3 - Cards of Consonance
1 - Dark Hole
3 - Dragon Ravine
1 - Giant Trunade
1 - Monster Reborn
2 - Mystical Space Typhoon
2 - Pot of Avarice
3 - Terraforming

Traps: 6

2 - Bottomless Trap Hole
1 - Mirror Force
2 - Solemn Warning
1 - Torrential Tribute

Extra Deck:

1 - Black Rose Dragon
1 - Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier
1 - Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg
3 - Dragunity Knight - Vajrayana
1 - Red Dragon Archfiend
1 - Scrap Dragon
1 - Stardust Dragon
1 - T.G. Blade Blaster (I love him so much)
1 - T.G. Hyper Librarian
1 - T.G. Wonder Magician
1 - Thought Ruler Archfiend
1 - Trident Dragion
1 - Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier

So just a basic outline of the pros, really basic:
  • T.G. Werewolf and T.G. Striker do not take up a normal summon as both have spacial summoning effects.
  • T.G. Werewolf and T.G. Striker also help fuel Pot of Avarice, Rejuvenate your hand whenever they are destroyed as well as helping you stall in the scenario of a 'bad hand'.
  • T.G. Werewolf makes level 9 Synchro plays a lot easier. Dux > Phalanx > Werewolf
  • Ability to abuse both T.G. Hyper Librarian and T.G. Wonder Magician and Blade Blaster, although he is more of a 'fun' card, however, I love him.
  • T.G. Striker and Werewolf can be abused by Scrap Dragon

I realize that my trap line-up is weaker than most, but its been working fine, somehow.

Well just a thought, I would love to know what you guys think, and thanks to Dragosoul(ithinkitwas) for the concept.
